about the project
Inspired at Argos Panoptes, the mythological giant whit over a hundred eyes, Argos is a vision appataus, a digital oculu, where a public and mutant portrait is assembled with eyes and mouths of the exhibition visitors.
Eyes and mouths shots where made with Nokia mobile phones equipped with digital cameras, and sent through infrared to photo visualizers attached in the device.
Oculu. Latin word for eyeglasses. Device used to help and amplify vision; to look through an oculu is a symptom of not seeign and means that the eyes can be deceived.
The eyes pictures can be seen either by who wear the device and by who is observing it. A random face is created, with aleatory blinks and whispers.
At the same time, Argos questions the role of new technology in subbectivity and give hints for the anwers. The several eyes and mouths sent to the apparatus, build a mutant and multiracial face, shaped by physiognomy diversity.
